On Wednesday, February 28th, HSP’s Dean of Academics, Thomas Cole, will be hosting the next installment of our “Through the Wardrobe” lecture series.
This series was created for Holy Spirit Prep’s faculty to share their knowledge and love for classical education and literature. Each event begins with an optional Mass, followed by music performed by Holy Spirit Prep scholars and hors d’oeuvres available to all. Childcare will also be available, so we encourage you to join us and invite your friends to this evening of fellowship and culture as we celebrate classical Catholic education!
Event Details: Voyage to a True Education
The third installment of this year’s series is titled: “Voyage to a True Education.” Drawing from Voyage of the Dawn Treader, C.S. Lewis’s third novel in The Chronicles of Narnia series, Mr. Cole will guide us through the pivotal elements that forge a successful, flourishing student by exploring Eustace’s journey from an egocentric young boy to a true hero of Narnia.
“At the beginning of the Voyage, the reader can certainly agree that Eustace Clarence Scrubb has a name that ‘he almost deserved’; he is not just a boy lacking a good education, but one who has been malformed. In our day, it is all too easy for us to either be, or to raise, a Eustace. C.S. Lewis shows us what he, you, and I need to become the hero we were meant to be.”
