Everything You Need to Know About HSP Summer Camps

UPDATE: Two new camps have just been added! One in June and one in July. Check out Mrs. Nguyen's Art Camp for Rising 1st through 5th Graders and Ms. Wallace's Around the World Camp for Rising 2nd through 5th Graders. Keep an eye out for more coming soon!

Summer is just around the corner, which means it's time to think about how your student can make the most of those months off from school. We're excited to invite you to register your children for HSP’s 2024 summer camps, which offer an engaging and enriching experience for all! At Holy Spirit Prep, our summer camps are designed to support the formation of each child through academics, athletics, faith, and arts. They are also a great way to make new friends and create lasting memories.

This year we’re hosting a variety of camps for students from PreK through 12th grade, which will take place in June and July. Whether you’re looking for more information about athletic camps, math and reading camps, or hiking camps, in this blog post you can learn everything you need to know to choose the summer camp that’s best for your student, and register today to reserve a spot! Camp registration is open to the general public.

Please Note: All camp registrations must be submitted by the Friday prior to the start of the week’s camp. Spots are limited, so we recommend registering early to ensure your children don’t miss out on camp fun!

Preschool Summer Camps

This summer, HSP will host six weeks of creative learning sessions for students ages 2-PreK4. Camps will meet Monday through Friday, from 8:30AM-12:30PM. Each week will feature new games and activities based on a different theme, such as Art and Music Appreciation and Under the Sea.

Not only are your little ones sure to make new friends, but they will learn important skills like teamwork and good sportsmanship. More details on camp themes and activities, coming soon!

NEW: God's Artwork: Revealing Nature Through Creating

Ages: Rising 1st to rising 5th grade boys and girls

Dates and times: June 3-7; 8:30AM–12:30PM

About: Join Lower School Art Teacher Stephanie Nguyen in a mixed media nature-based art camp! Students will explore nature through different mediums, such as watercolor, printmaking, and various art media. Each day will have a different theme and art media focus!

Reading and Writing Skills Camp

Ages: Rising 6th to rising 8th grade boys and girls

Dates and times: June 3-7, June 10-14, June 17-21, and June 24-28; 8:30AM–12:30PM

About: Join Mr. Hoyer as he works with campers to improve their reading comprehension, reading rate, critical thinking skills, and sentence structure. Programs will be individually tailored to each student based on pretesting. Registrations are limited. Note: Because this camp is a skills development camp, students who can attend no fewer than 2 of the 4 weeks of camp will be given priority registration.

The 4th Annual Madi Made Basketball Camp

Ages: 6-18 

Dates and times: June 3-7 (for ages 6-11), June 17-21 (for ages 12-18); 8:30AM–12:30PM

About: Campers are invited to join Coach McKenzie, at the 4th Annual Madi Made Basketball Camp (pro basketball development trainer) to develop their skills on the basketball court. We provide a fun, competitive environment where the kids can learn on-court skills, such as proper shooting form, elite ball-handling, defensive positioning and responsibilities, and much more. The campers will also learn about important off-court topics like media presence and NIL deals, AAU and Travel ball, How-to-live like an athlete, and opportunities in basketball from pro athletes, trainers, and basketball personalities.

Girls Volleyball Camp

Ages: Rising 6th to rising 8th grade girls

Dates and times: June 3-7; 8:30AM–12:30PM

Instructors: Coach Braski and Coach Christopherson

About: Coaches Braski and Christopherson will be offering a week long volleyball camp for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls. Throughout the week, we will be covering volleyball basics through drills, scrimmages, and games! All skill levels are encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity to experience what our regular season practices will look like this fall and grow together as a team!

Math Camp with Mrs. Steinemann

Ages: Rising 6th and rising 7th graders

Dates and times: June 10-13 for Rising 6th Grade; June 17-20 for Rising 7th Grade; 8:30AM–12:30PM

About: Math Camp will for rising 6th and 7th graders looking to deepen their math skills, complete their summer work, and do cool math projects! Each day will revolve around a particular topic from the summer work and end with a fun math project.

Cougar Strength Camp (Week 1)

Ages: Rising 9th to rising 12th grade boys and girls

Dates and times: June 10-14; 8:30AM–12:30PM

Instructor: Mr. Thomas Gaines

Limit: 8 Campers

About: Jump in with Mr. Gaines as he works with students to establish and develop the fundamentals of powerlifting with a focus on proper form, programming, nutrition, and consistent gains in the primary lifts, as well as instruction on supporting exercises. Our aim is to give the students a great foundation to build from for the rest of their high school career!

Coach Vic's Basketball Camp

Ages: Rising 6th to rising 12th grade boys and girls

Dates and times: June 10-14, June 24-28; 8:30AM–12:30PM

About: Join Holy Spirit Prep’s Varsity Boys Basketball Coaches Amadi McKenzie and Victor Alexander for a week of basketball drills, skills, and fun.

Camp Karol (Hiking and Nature Camp)

Ages: Rising 5th through 8th

Dates and times: June 10-14; 8:30AM–12:30PM

Instructor: Ms. Lucy Frain

Limit: 20 campers

About: Each day, we will explore God's gift of the natural world through hiking, visiting nature preserves, and other outdoor activities. The name "Camp Karol" is in honor of Saint Pope John Paul II, who had a heart for young people and bringing them to Christ through the exploration of the outdoors. More details will be sent as the dates draw nearer!

About: Come, travel the world with a five day tour of country and culture. Learn about other countries as we use our "passports" to explore the details of travel. We will investigate how to select locations for travel, what sites to see, how to purchase tickets, and where to stay. We will take into account the geographic details, the climate, and the language of each country. Our goal is to become well-informed travelers, ready to travel the world.

Hiking and Nature Studies Camp

Ages: Rising 7th to rising 9th grade boys and girls

Dates and times: July 15-19; 8:30AM–12:30PM

Instructor: Mr. Don Hoyer

Limit: 12 Campers

About: Join Mr. Hoyer as he guides students in a Catholic, classical approach to exploring the natural world. Rather than studying nature through the scientific approach of dissection and categorization, students will gain a love and appreciation of God's creation through storytelling, exploration of art and literature, and off-campus hikes. Additionally, campers will learn basic skills related to hiking and backpacking such as how to read a topographic map, basic bushcraft, and how to select and set up a campsite. Registrations are limited.

Cougar Strength Camp (Week 2)

Ages: Rising 9th to rising 12th grade boys and girls

Dates and times: July 15-19; 8:30AM–12:30PM

Woodcraft and St. Joseph's Place Service Camp

Ages: Rising 7th to rising 9th grade boys and girls

About: Join Mr. Hoyer as he introduces students to basic woodworking and whittling skills. These skills will be applied to a project to benefit residents at Catholic Charities Senior Community at St. Joseph's Place. Campers will build birdhouses and other similar crafts to be placed at St. Joseph's place for the enjoyment of its residents. Registrations are limited. Note: This camp will involve one chaperoned off-campus trip to deliver our projects to the residents of the senior living community.
