The House System

A crucible for leadership. A family of students. A platform for intrascholastic competition and collaboration. Students are “tied” into a House in 5th grade, which they will call their House for the rest of their lives. Our alumni love to return to campus and check up on their house.

Rosie
Head Girl

Hi, my name is Rosie and I will be serving as Head Girl for the 2019 - 2020 school year. I am beyond honored to service my school in such a way. When I came to Holy Spirit in the 4th grade, I fell in love with the school and I knew I wanted to give back one day. Through the years the school has taught me how to be of service to the school and how to apply that in my everyday life. Not only has Holy Spirit taught me to serve, but also challenge me academically. I have also participated in Varsity Tennis for four years and joined various clubs such as National Art Honors Society, Alpha Phi, SJC and much more. Leadership has always been a passion of mine.

The Head Boy, William, and I have great plans for this year. We plan to raise school spirit to a new level. We intend to have great attendance and spirit at games as well as school events. The House System and House points will be used more than any other year. With a new house point system and incentive list we plan to have more participation than ever. We hope to bring great passion into this school year.

I am extremely excited and invigorated for this upcoming year. Great changes and additions are coming this year and I can’t wait to see how people react. I love leadership and the reward you get when you see how you made a difference in your community. I am very happy to be alongside William throughout this year and I am already impressed with his natural leadership abilities. I know this year will be great not just for our amazing leadership team, but for all students and faculty. Go Cougars!

William
Head Boy

My name is William and I have been a student at Holy Spirit Prep since the 1st grade. In the classroom, I have acquired a love for learning and a deep respect for all the teachers on our campuses. Outside the classroom, my tenure here has been highlighted by my participation on the Swim, Golf, and Baseball teams in addition to being a member of Quiz Bowl and One Apostolate. Apart from my extracurriculars, this school has ingrained in me a deep love for service. From serving Mass on Sundays at Holy Spirit Catholic Church to perpetuating my family’s summer sandwich ministry, I have learned above all else to constantly keep others in mind.

This mindset epitomizes my goal for the upcoming school year. I strive to rejuvenate the House System, instilling a great sense of pride and competitiveness in the student body. I seek to embody our school’s core virtues in all things I do to set a model for those around me. Above all, I want to dedicate as much of my time and effort as possible to the people who have made my time at Holy Spirit invaluable.

I have never been more excited for a school to start than I have been for this year. As each summer day passed, the optimism for near improvements and changes grew. I could not be more delighted that I get to share this time with my counterpart Rosie, a person who could not be more qualified for her position. We have made a promise to ourselves and all of our peers to make this the most enjoyable school year they have ever experienced while at Holy Spirit Prep.

Olivia
President, House of Trent

Hi, my name is Olivia Tucker and I am honored to be a part of this unique and prestigious system. The House System is an essential piece of our school community and enables great, long-lasting relationships to be built. Not many schools have the tightly-knit school environment like we do here. Our school represents a family, everyone knows everyone, and we all genuinely respect one another. Being elected by my peers to become the next house president of Trent was such a reward and I cannot wait to begin putting my personal touch on Holy Spirit Prep.

I am a very competitive spirit that stops at nothing to accomplish my goals. I know that I am capable to revive Trent’s losing streak and turn the Blue House into something better than ever before. With my merciless mindset, contagious energy, and plan to get all students involved, Trent is going to have everyone else shaking at their knees. This year is definitely going to be one to remember.

Trent has all of the tools it needs to succeed. It only makes sense that Big Blue is going to be victorious and triumph over the other three Houses. We have an amazing, outgoing vice president, Morgan Delaney, strategic and efficient captains, Sofia Oliver and Ainsley Hillman, two enthusiastic prefects, Olivia Arnold and Daniel Jones, and our fearless house master, Mrs. Amanda Thornhill. Together, our team will become a force to be reckoned with, destroying whatever crosses our path. Trent Represent.

Manny
President, House of Nicaea

I am Manny Yepes, and I am a senior at Holy Spirit Prep, and the President of the House of Nicaea. I came to the school in third grade, and have been in love with the people here since then. I always enjoy having conversations with the students here, and the teachers as well. Everyone has a story to tell, and I love hearing them. The House system has been very important to me, as some of my best friends have come from inside my house. It also has offered a way for me to connect to people from other grades, allowing us to become more of a community. Some of the best relationships I have had in school have been with my friends and teachers in my house.

As House President, I am planning to work together with our leadership team to instill the Nicaea spirit into all our members. We want everyone in our House, especially the underclassmen, to feel welcome, as we were when we first began at the Upper School. Our goal is to create that same sense of community which we felt as new students, and establish ourselves as a leadership team open to suggestions. This year especially, many people have wanted to be involved in the House system and other school events, so we aim to involve as many people as we can, taking suggestions and ideas in order to create a better environment for our house members.

I am very much looking forward to this year, as it has given us the opportunity to participate in the great Holy Spirit Prep tradition of the House System. We are excited to reveal the various events, activities, and surprises we have planned for the students this year. Most of all, this year will be incredibly exciting for our house specifically, as we plan to continue our reign as House Champions, especially after our incredible win last year. The House of Nicaea will rise again!

Berry
President, House of Lyons

Hello! My name is Berry Fox and I am super excited to be the 2019-2020 President of the House of Lyons. It is a great honor to be selected for this position as a junior and I look forward to a successful year for my house. I joined Holy Spirit Preparatory School in the middle of my sixth grade year and have been a member of the House of Lyons ever since. The students of Lyons immediately welcomed me and created a supportive environment where I met some of my best friends. I want to build the spirit of Lyons and strengthen the pride we have as a House.

A close working leadership team is a step to success. This year’s leadership team exemplifies hard work, teamwork, and determination. I look forward to collaborating with Noah Weeks, the Vice President, who helps come up with fun ideas for the house. Olivia Jones is the captain and her high energy is a helpful tool when running our day to day operations, and getting our snacks! Last but surely not least we have our Prefects, Max Bendig and Tomas Hossain Aguilar, who help support Olivia. I hope to make this school year enjoyable for the whole House of Lyons. Through yummy snacks and fun activities we strive to become closer as a House. Semper Melius!

Ashley
President, House of Chalcedon

Hi! My name is Ashley Postell and I am the president of the House of Chalcedon. It is my honor and privilege to serve The House System. When I first entered Holy Spirit Prep in 2016, I had never seen anything like this before. The House system has allowed me to strengthen friendships as well as my leadership skills. As time grew on, I started looking up to the leadership team not only in my House but in all the Houses. I knew one day I wanted to be a courageous leader just like them. I served as the 2018-2019 Captain for the House of Chalcedon.

This year I am really excited to work with the leadership team to steal a victory from the House of Nicaea. I’m very fortunate to have Jesus Anaya-Ruiz as my partner-in-crime. Alongside him are my Captains, Paydn Devine and Patrick Radosta. Underneath them are our prefects, Emil Sacco and Ava Sipos. Each of the members on this team are very skilled and will help us succeed in a victory for this upcoming year. We have our Vice President in charge of the public relations and special activities. Our Captains will be in charge of the house board, finances, and house points. Lastly, our Prefects will be in charge of lost and found, student participation in flex, and student participation in Masses with the assistance of our Captains. I’m super pumped to see what we have in store for this school year. I’m looking forward to working not only with the leadership team but the members of the House of Chalcedon.
