Dear Holy Spirit Prep Families
We are pleased to announce that Holy Spirit Prep’s first ever virtual Gala was a big hit. Not only did we raise $212,000, but our community came together virtually to support this school we love for an evening that highlighted top notch faculty and staff, alumni, 25 years of history, and one truly enthusiastic musician from the Zac Brown Band!
Thank you to the many generous sponsors, donors and auction winners who contributed to this evening’s financial success. While we did not (yet) reach our $300,000 goal, we did give it our all as a community, and our children will benefit. Through your generosity, the lives of students at HSP will be positively impacted as we are able to continue enhancing delivery of the mission of our school.
If you have not had an opportunity to make a donation, or are in a financial position where you can consider donating more, please prayerfully consider doing so in the next week. Use the links below to view the Gala and make a donation. Perhaps $300,000 is still in reach…
We also set a goal to get 500 individual RSVP’s for the Gala. While we did not reach our registration goal, we did have great participation. We will celebrate within the school community (especially with our students) with a Dress Down Day on Friday, March 12.

My sincere thanks again for all you do to support this school’s beautiful mission for our students. As we continue to witness the events in the world around us, the unique nature of what we are doing together here at Holy Spirit Prep will become increasingly evident - and valuable - to us all.
In Christ,
Ed

We are entering into the season of Lent where we have the opportunity to take some time to grow in our relationship with God and learn more about our faith. We would like to partner with you during Lent to help your family grow closer to each other and the faith. Thankfully, we have learned of The Domestic Church Boot camp which is a program for families that can be helpful in these endeavors.
As a school, we are asking that you prayerfully consider becoming a part of this program as a Lenten activity for your family. It is simple and easy - all you need is a smartphone to download the App - and the goal is to build community amongst ourselves as we grow spiritually together during Lent and into the Easter season.
Please see flyer below for details of how to get started. Official start date is March 1 with a kickoff call/virtual meeting on Wednesday March 24. Reach out to Madeliene Flanagan (mflanagan@holyspiritprep.org) or Ruth Sacco (saccor1999@gmail.com) with questions.

Mobile Sale for Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day - A great success!
We had a very successful school store mobile sale at the lower school for St. Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day items. While we have had to make a lot of adjustments this year, this has been one that has brought some fun for the kids and teachers. It is so wonderful to get to see the kids shop with joy and excitement as they look for gifts for family and friends and find a few things for themselves! This was the second sale of the year. We are planning for one or two more after Spring Break! Be on the lookout for more information.

HSP has long held the standard that every high school student earns at least 25 service hours each academic year. This has been a requirement for graduation. More importantly, service hours are intended to flow from a life of grace and remind us of our school’s motto: “to serve and not to be served” (Cf. Mark 10:45). In light of COVID-19 restrictions which have limited service hour opportunities, we have decided to waive the 25 hour requirement for each student to earn this academic year. However, any service hour a student has accumulated this year will be applied to their next year service hour total. Service hour opportunities have included, but have not been limited to, serving at Mass, assisting on retreats, and serving through our house apostolates and clubs. Any other apostolic and service efforts made by a student outside of school will be considered for service hours. Please note that all service hours a student accumulates this year will be applied not only to next year;s total, but to their total service hours in consideration for various awards. Mr. Kilgore will be meeting with every 8th-12th grade student individually throughout the remainder of the academic year to discuss and calculate all service hours they’ve accumulated during the 2020-2021 academic year. Any service hour accumulated by a student after their meeting with Mr. Kilgore will be added to their total via a Google spreadsheet which will be posted on the Campus Ministry Google Classroom page. Please contact Mr. Kilgore with any questions or concerns: jkilgore@holyspiritprep.org.
On Friday, March 19th at 10:00 am, all 10th grade HSP students who have made the necessary preparations to be confirmed this year will have their Confirmation Mass with Bishop Ned. Students may bring their Confirmation sponsor and two additional guests to sit in Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Students may also bring two additional guests to watch the Mass via livestream in McDonough Hall. The Mass will also be livestreamed on the Holy Spirit website.
Upcoming Kairos Retreat: March 26 to 28
Attention to all current 11th grade parents! Your young adult is invited to attend this year's Kairos retreat led by a terrific group of select HSP seniors. Please check for an email sent on Thursday, February 18. Please contact Mr. Kilgore with any questions or concerns: jkilgore@holyspiritprep.org.
Saturdays 2/20 and 2/27 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm in the Upper School gym.
Dear HSP families,
Happy New Year! Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas season. Ascension Music Academy will begin their spring semester on January 25th, and it will run through April 30th. The first 3 days of Holy week and the first 2 weeks of May will be used for make-up lessons. I am happy to announce that we are now able to offer piano and guitar lessons in addition to all of the band instruments. We welcome Carrie Sturniolo (piano) and Kyle Van Rooyen (guitar) to our AMA faculty.
There is no better way to advance on an instrument than to have one on one time with an instructor. Students who take private lessons have a huge advantage when it comes to auditioning for All-District and All-State Bands, and for college scholarships.
If you are interested, please fill out the attached registration form and send it back to either me or Mr. Kieffer. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
Len

"Anyone who wants to be great among you must be your servant, and anyone who wants to be first among you must be your slave, just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Matthew 20:26-28
Lord, as we discern the meaning of our call to servant leadership, help us recognize the ways you seek to minister through our lives. Inspired by the knowledge of your abiding presence, may we have the courage to reach out and support one another, to stand firm in what is true, to decrease when others should increase, and to lead with vision and compassion, as faithful followers of Jesus, your Son. We make this prayer to you in His name.
Amen
