Dear Holy Spirit Prep Families,
Here we are, headed into November after a busy week that included our Music Under the Stars concert, parent teacher conferences, Fall Festival, and a visit from local law enforcement as part of Red Ribbon Week. November kicks off with Mass on Monday on both campuses celebrating All Saints Day.
Over these past few months, we faced many considerable challenges as a community. Holy Spirit Prep continues to distinguish ourselves within the educational community with an unwavering stance relating to the dignity of every human being as a child of God. The root in that dignity is in direct contradiction to CRT, cancel culture, gender ideology, the “woke” movement, and so many more “causes” of the increasingly secular anti-Christian world that surrounds us. This attempt to replace the Judeo-Christian principles upon which this country was founded with man-made “causes” is at the core of the majority of our current social, political, economic, and spiritual unrest and instability.
As we face these challenges together, including both internal and external, I ask you to understand that we are in a literal battle for our faith and values - right here in Sandy Springs, GA. We have no choice but to prevail. Our children are under the influence of adults in school for half of their waking hours. The potential damage and permanent impact on their value systems, self actualization, and faith that can be done in an improperly grounded educational environment during those hours can not be underestimated.
All schools are not equal, and they certainly do not share the same values or desire the same outcomes for children as Holy Spirit Prep. We have one goal at Holy Spirit Prep - to partner with you to help your children get to heaven. The intellectual, spiritual, athletic, artistic, apostolic, and all other aspects of formation we do here are intended to achieve our common goal of heaven. While I admit that we may not be getting everything right, despite our continued efforts, I sincerely ask for your continued support, patience, and cooperation relating to our shortcomings as we continue to improve and engage in this critical battle for the hearts, minds, and souls of our children together.
“Without the burden of afflictions it is impossible to reach the height of grace. The gift of grace increases as the struggle increases.” St. Rose of Lima

Dear Holy Spirit Families,
There has been a long tradition of the Catholic Church to pray for one another. There are countless examples in the Bible about the power of praying for one another. Old Testament speaks about interceding for one another and offering a sacrifice for them for one reason or another. In the gospels many people bring the sick to Jesus to be healed (cfr Mk 2:1-12). Jesus also tells us to ask the Father and He will give it to us (cfr Jn 14:13).
Part of our relationship with God is that we pray for one another. Pope St. John Paul II once shared that during a period of this life the only way he was able to pray was interceding for others. Often, we tell one another when someone is in a tight situation that we will pray for them. We can ask for the intercession of one another here on earth, and we ask the saints in heaven to intercede for us there. Praying for one another other than bringing us closer to God also brings us closer to one another.
The Eucharist, according to Vatican II, is the source and summit of our Faith. This means that in the Eucharist the theological virtue of Faith is increased in us, and that the Eucharistic celebration is the best expression of our Faith. The Eucharist is then the highest form of prayer and best way to commune with God. If then this is true, the Mass is the best place to offer our intentions.
There was a young lady who God allowed to see her guardian angel during Mass. She would also see the guardian angels of those around her. One day her guardian angel was sad, while the others seemed very happy. Then the young lady realized what the other angels carried something; they all carried intentions. She realized that this was then the best place to pray for all the people she knew and loved.
The Mass is the best place to bring our intentions. It is great that the children read petitions at Mass and offer intentions in their prayer box that they offer during the offertory. The Church in her wisdom has offered a more perfect way for us to participate in the celebration of the Mass, by having the Mass offered for a specific intention. Though every Mass is offered for a multitude of intentions, the priest usually has a first intention that he places on the altar The faithful by making an offering of their own can actively participate in this offering at the altar. A small offering, traditionally $10, is made to show the sacrifice of the person who would like to offer this intention to God.
Those wishing to honor a loved one during the celebration of Mass may stop by the Front Office of the Lower School or Upper School and pick up a Mass card or speak to Mrs. Insalaca or Mrs. Bailey. Mass cards are available for the living and deceased and provide opportunities for prayerful remembrance of anniversaries, birthdays, and other special intentions. Please contact one of Holy Spirit’s chaplains for more information.
Other than offering Masses, we encourage you to pray for one another. Ruth Sacco is helping to coordinate a team of parents who will be praying for intentions that families would like to post in our Holy Spirit online intention book. These intentions will be kept private. Prayer Requests
If you would like to be part of the prayer team please email Ruth Sacco saccor1999@gmail.com or follow this link.
Information may also be found on our Faith and Family page at www.holyspiritprep.org.

We have a book for you! Join Connections moms as we study the book 30 Ways in 30 Days to Strengthen Your Family by Rebecca Hagelin, available via online retailers Barnes and Noble and Amazon in paperback, hardback or ebook formats. Connections is an HSP community of women, devoted to building prayer, spiritual growth, and personal formation opportunities, as well as fellowship among the HSP ladies.
Our Patron Saint is St. Teresa of Calcutta. Her example of holy and joyful testimony of praying and loving every person with Jesus' heart, and being a spiritual mother to us all is truly inspiring!
Our Motto is: “When you know how much God is in love with you, then you can only live radiating that love.”
Please join us on Sunday, December 5th from 5:00pm-8:00pm for a Journey of Joy. This Chastain style event will have everyone bringing their own food, drink and table décor (we encourage each table to have an Advent theme and bring an Advent wreath). We will provide a white tablecloth and a single candle to symbolize Christ being the light of the world. Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, we have the speaker (Melissa Foley) covered. The funds from tickets will cover additional costs for this event and provide support for future events of the Faith and Family program within Campus Ministry.
