Lower School Teams Go On Odyssey of the Mind

Posted: 2/26/2020

This weekend our Odyssey teams competed in two divisions at the regional competition. Our girls team consisted of Abby Casillo, Sophia Cardillo, Bella Cusimano, Savannah Tate, Lauren Wilhelm, Olivia Casal, and Maddie Van Oss.

They wrote an original detective mystery script which solved the case, "Where is Bigfoot?" But because this is, Odyssey of the Mind, this wasn't any big foot story. Without any outside assistance they created a story were big foot was actually a massive hair clog in a drain. They had creative character names like Ivana Clue and Ann Tagonist. The judges had comments like "hilarious!" and "great acting skills!" Our girls team placed in regions. Congrats girls!

We also had our boys team compete at regions this weekend: Brody Denton, Luke Craig, Adam Young, Dylan Craig, Evan Craig, Dillon Harrington.

The boys created a script that saved the world from destruction. They had to build three original vehicles which included a balloon car, and two motor powered cars. Each car had to transport baking soda for a baking soda-vinegar reaction.  The judges said they loved their costumes and original set designs. The boys placed second in the regional competition, and will moved on to state competition in April! Congrats boys!  Our boys' team also placed 1st overall in the Creative Cake competition with an Alien inspired cake that oozes slime when you cut into it!
