Academy Soccer Sweeps End-of-Season Tournaments

Posted: 11/7/2018

Our Lower School soccer teams had fantastic success last weekend in the CMSL (Catholic Metro Soccer League) tournaments. We set a record of a clean sweep, having all four teams participating picking up 1st place! Our U10 girls, U10 boys, U12 girls, and U12 boys were all successful in their final games of the CMSL tournament.

Our U10 boys went the whole season undefeated, winning the regular season and the end of season tournament. Our U12 girls had a positive regular season, starting off with one of two defeats, but really working hard and improving throughout the season. They had done well enough to qualify for the tournament and came together to pick up 1st place.

Our U12 boys also went undefeated in the regular season, however were very unfortunate not to pick up the league trophy due to a canceled game. Regardless of the league standings, they came in strong for the end-of-season tournament. They continued their unbeaten streak to make a perfect season, picking up championship medals in the final.

Coach Sam Walker, reflecting on the season:
"It has been a pleasure working with these groups of kids. We have an array of talent coming through which we are very excited about. The most important thing is making sure everyone is improving individually and collectively while enjoying the program. As these teams progress it is about getting them ready for middle school and then varsity soccer. The new Academy style program is only 18 months old, and I am delighted at where we are in this point."
