Girls Varsity Basketball Earns State Title

Posted: 3/15/2019

Congratulations to the Lady Cougars and Coach Paul Belcher for becoming the 2019 GISA AAA State Basketball Champions. After blowing through the region competition, the girls stayed strong through the state tournament despite lacking some key players due to injuries. The championship game was a rematch of last year's final, our Lady Cougars against returning champions Pinewood Christian Lady Patriots. This time, our girls came out on top and took the state championship title with a final score of 47-38.

Annaleena Hansen and Jonnise Poole were both selected as GISA AAA All-Star players, and played in the All-Star games this past weekend.

Our boys varsity team also competed in the GISA AAA State Tournament, dominating in their games up until the end. The final championship game was a familiar one - the boys had defeated The Heritage School twice this year in the regular season, and in the past two state championship games. But in this year's region and state championship games, Heritage came out on top. Our boys varsity team finished as GISA AAA State Runner-Up, an impressive accomplishment nonetheless.

Ahmir Langlais was selected as a GISA AAA All-Star player, and played in the All-Star games this past weekend.
