Benefits of an Independent Catholic School

What’s the Difference?
Independent Catholic vs. Archdiocesan Schools

As an independent Catholic school, Holy Spirit Prep retains control of our curriculum, founding our teaching on the best practices of centuries of Catholic teaching, and implementing it with our students’ individual needs in mind. Holy Spirit Prep offers resource centers for students of every learning ability, from gifted students to students with some mild, language-based, learning exceptions.

Sacramental Preparation
Most students in the Archdiocese of Atlanta are required to receive sacraments of initiation – First Communion, First Penance, Confirmation – through their parish. We have special permission to prepare our students for their sacraments of initiation as a class.

Classroom Environment
As an independent school, Holy Spirit Prep can better control its class sizes. Retaining direct control of our hiring and compensation practices means we can attract and retain the best teachers in Catholic education.

HSP does not have access to tuition assistance funding from the Archdiocese of Atlanta. We meet tuition assistance needs from donations, the Georgia GOAL Scholarship, and our operating income. As stewards of the finite pool of monies made available for tuition assistance, Holy Spirit Prep has to ensure that assistance is targeted to the families with the greatest need.
