College Counseling Events
One-on-one meetings: Students and Parents meet with the counselor for individualized college preparation and investigation of interests and desires. These are especially frequent during Junior and Senior years.
Grade-specific Flex Periods: Starting in seventh grade, education begins on how students can develop their passions, find leadership opportunities, the importance of social media, using our Naviance/Family Connection software, engaging in community service, and taking a personality assessment.
Lunch and Learns: Monthly workshops led by the college counselor on timely topics. These include: the college search, scholarship applications, deciding between offers of admission, resume building, summer experiences, and calculating their GPA on several grading scales.
College Planning Night: Large event for families to hear from experts on many facets of college planning. Invited guests present on topics including selective college admissions, the difference between liberal arts and research institutions, standardized testing, and how to stand out beyond the numbers.
College Representative Visits: HSP consistently hosts over 50 college representatives annually to our school for recruiting and relationship building opportunities. Student are able to meet the specific people that will review their applications and representatives are able to learn about our great school.
Financial Aid Night: Held early in the school year, families across HSP are invited to learn about scholarship searching, financial planning, Georgia-specific financial aid, and how private colleges extend aid
