Dear Holy Spirit Prep family,
The Spring Gala Sponsor Party is just 1½ weeks away, and we want you to join us at Ansley Golf Club! Drs. Angie and John Arnold are hosting the party on April 2nd! Those that sponsor the Gala at the Gold level or higher are invited to attend and get to enjoy:
You can make your sponsorship gift by clicking on the button above, or by contacting Jen de Castro at 678.904.2811, ext. 233, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
See you at the Gala,
One of the most fun parts of the Gala (we mean, besides the dancing and the incredible food and the heartwarming videos) is the auction! Check out some of the items we have up for bid this year:
Watersound Beach House at South Walton, Florida
Donated by HSP mom Madeleine Stagliano, this 2011 beach home offers the best of both worlds: the tranquility and privacy of WaterSound's natural setting, along with easy access to the best of 30-A's dining and nightlife. Check out the inside in a photo gallery here.
Father Thomas' Treasures
Father Thomas is contributing a whole table of auction items! Two gorgeous paintings; a homemade Italian feast by Fr. Thomas; and from his kitchen, special 20th anniversary bottles of limoncello and arancello. Thanks, Fr. Thomas!
THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS
Thank you so much to those who have sponsored the 2016 Spring Gala!

To date, we have 76% parent support for the Annual Fund. Please help us reach 100%! Pledge now and pay by June.
Why is my participation in the Annual Fund important?
The first question that most outside constituencies ask before making a gift is, "What do your board, staff and parents contribute?" It is so important that we show support from within before we go to outside sources for contributions. Participation in the Annual Fund demonstrates to others that we, as one of the closest groups to the School, support our mission. What better way to motivate other groups to give?
The Annual Fund is the school’s largest and first fundraising priority, which supports resources and educational initiatives for students and faculty not covered by tuition alone. The Annual Fund allows the school to respond to immediate needs and make improvements that directly benefit our children.
The success of our Annual Fund depends on the participation of every member of the school community – parents, grandparents, trustees, faculty, staff, former parents and grandparents, alumni, friends, foundations and corporations. This school year, we aim to raise $535,000 with 100% commitment from our current parents.

Dear HSP Dads,
Thanks to the men who came out to our first Dads Bible study. Our next meeting will be Friday, April 1, from 7:30am until 8:00am in the Cougar Den at the Lower School. Lower School dad, Jason Neff, will lead us in this Bible study group. We hope to meet every other Friday for the rest of the school year and I hope you will be able to join us.
I look forward to seeing you next Friday!
RSVP for either April 5 at Pace Academy
or April 6 at Holy Spirit Prep
As part of Inspiratio, we have regularly invited speakers to campus to address technology and family relationships. This April, HSP and Pace Academy will be co-hosting Dr. Catherine Steiner-Adair, a psychologist and author of The Big Disconnect. It is important that at least one parent from each family attend one of her two sessions, either the evening of April 5 at Pace Academy, or the morning of April 6 at our Upper School. Please mark your calendars. Her presentations are not only research-based, they also contain a trove of practical tips!

HSP girls' varsity soccer's whirlwind start to the season is over! After driving to three of the four corners of Georgia over the past two weeks, and playing 11 games in 8 days, the Lady Cougars came home with two 1st place trophies: one from Sherwood Christian, beating the host team 2-0 in the final, and one from Trinity Christian, beating the host team 2-1 in overtime.
The Trinity tournament
The tournament began with a repeat victory of 2-0 against Sherwood Christian on Friday afternoon, followed up with a 3-0 victory over Robert Toombs Christian Academy to land ourselves in the final. After a hard-fought, 70-minute battle, we were tied 1-1, thanks to a goal from Jaidi Velasquez to even the score. Three minutes into golden goal overtime, there was a melee in front of our goal. HSP grabbed possession and counter-attacked. Allie went on the dribble and beat two center backs to put it past the keeper!
A special player of the game nod goes to Avery Lamb, who stopped a PK in the RTCA game, then flicked a deflection off a defender around the post to prevent an own-goal in the Trinity game.
EDIT: After publication, HSP Cougars won their 4th game, their first home game of the season, against Mill Spings Academy! Final score was an astonishing 19-2. More details in next week's G&G.

Congratulations to HSP baseball, who on Saturday picked up their 3rd season win against Briarwood Academy.
Coach Scott Harrison has this report: "So far this season we have gone 3-3, beating the teams we should and competing well against the better teams in our region (starting mostly upperclassmen). We are currently starting 6-7 freshmen, 2-3 sophomores, and 1 upperclassmen. So these guys will be around for the next few years just getting better."
An impressive two-way performance from Nick Maddox led the Holy Spirit Prep Cougars to a 14-7 win Saturday over Briarwood Academy, as Nick Maddox came up huge at the dish and on the hill.
The Cougars were led by a flawless day at the dish by Nick Maddox, who went 3-3 against Briarwood Academy's pitching. He singled in the first, fifth, and seventh innings. Maddox brought the heat against Briarwood Academy during his outing. Briarwood Academy managed just three hits off of Maddox, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out four during his four innings of work.
The Cougars sealed the win with seven runs in the seventh. They scored in the seventh on a fielder's choice, an RBI single by Ben Grantham, a two-run single by James English, an RBI single by Nick Maddox, and an RBI double by Ben McCarty.
Ryan Harrison helped take the lead for good in the seventh inning. Nick Priestly was hit by a pitch to get on base in the seventh. He then went from second to third on a passed ball.
In the top of the first, Cougrsgrabbed the early lead, 2-0. The rally started when Claude O'Meara doubled, then moved from second to third. The scoreboard lit up again for HSP when English scored on an RBI single by Nick Maddox.
After posting one run in the second, Holy Spirit Prep scored one in the sixth. In the second, HSO scored on a groundout by O'Meara, scoring Nick Priestly.
Briarwood Academy answered the Cougars top inning with five runs of its own in the sixth. Briarwood Academy scored on a walk by Jackson Driver, a walk by #7, an error, a fielder's choice, and a groundout by Tommy Wells.
Thanks to everyone who came out to have fun with our Preppies at Donuts with Dads and Dear Ones last week! We had a blast!

Upper School progress reports have been uploaded to PlusPortals. As a reminder, to view your Upper School student’s electronic progress report for third quarter, log in to your Plus Portal account and click “Reports” (circled in red below) when viewing your Upper School student’s progress. You will then need to click “Combined Progress Report” to view the complete report.
This will list your student’s third quarter average and also show you the assignments and earned grades for every assignment your student completed during the quarter. Please remember, the third quarter grade is just a progress grade. The only exception to this rule is the Junior High Survey Course classes. Your junior high student will receive a grade for each marking period that will be a stand-alone grade and there will be no cumulative grade for the year for the Survey course. Thus, the grade you see on the progress report for the third marking period of the Junior High Survey Course will be your student’s final third marking period grade. For all other classes, your student’s second semester grade in his/her classes will be a cumulative average of all earned grades in both third and fourth quarters (worth 80% of a student’s grade in 9th-12th grade; worth 100% of a student’s grade in 7th-8th grade) and the final exam grade (20% of a student’s grade in 9th-12th grade; 7th-8th grade students do not have final exams, but rather a test grade).
As we move into fourth quarter, you will want to view the second semester average on Plus Portal as your progress view for your student in order to see their most up to date cumulative grade for the third and fourth quarter. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to reach out to our Registrar, Rachel Little.
