Holy Spirit Prep's varsity Cougar football team demonstrated some of its finest performances this season as it rocked Griffin Christian High 52-20 during HSP's Homecoming celebration. Capping a week of school spirit, the team took to its home field turf in front of a neon crowd of supporters and, by half time, had firmly established their dominance on the field, topping the scoreboard at 31-6.
Over four quarters, the Cougars racked up 239 running yards, averaging 5 yard per carry, and earned 7 total touchdowns by 5 different players - the most points against any team since their 2008-09 season. The Cougars' victory against Griffin Christian places them 2-0 in region games and 3-2 overall. MVPs from the game include:
Davey O’Haren, Offensive Player of the game (2 TDs and 69 yards)
Chris Bell, Defensive Player of the game (3 tackles for loss, a sack, and 4 assists)
Drew Vincent, Overall Player of the Game (2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries including driving a player into his own punter causing a fumble)
Halftime at homecoming featured an adorable cheering demonstration featuring our Pre-K and Lower School cheerleaders, supported by our varsity squad - and, of course, the presentation of the Homecoming court. Congratulations go to the entire Homecoming court presented at half time, including Austin Thomas, Peter Nagel, Kyle Winkler, Alex Mays, Meredith Jones, Catherine Johnson, and especially our Homecoming King and Queen, Drew Vincent and Megan Radosta.
