HSP puts on two “main stage” productions each year, a full length play in the fall and a spring musical in March. Until the performance dates, for each of these shows, rehearsals are required for the scenes in which the student’s character appears. Rehearsals run from 4:00pm-6:30pm. A student does not need to attend rehearsals that do not include his/her “character.”
This class is offered both semesters on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:50pm. It is intended for those students particularly interested in acquiring additional voice training. The course counts as a 50 hour semester class and so attendance is mandatory except for the traditional excused absence. All in the Second Semester class are required to participate in the spring musical in some capacity.
HSP Theatre Classes
Each semester a variety of theatre classes are offered that meet the needs of the advanced actor to the merely curious one. These courses include: Play Production, Theatre Arts I-V, and Musical Theatre. The classes are centered on the Georgia Performance Standards as outlined by the State Board of Education.
HSP Summer Stock Theatre
A unique program modeled on Regional Summer Stock Repertory Theatre. As such, HSP invites its Theatre Alumni back to perform alongside current drama students. In addition, HSP Summer Stock Theatre joins forces with Triple Threat Theatre and invites friends, neighbors, and members of the community to share in this enriching and exciting summer experience. Past productions have included Charley’s Aunt, Bullshot Crummond, The Dining Room, ART, and Dead Man’s Cell Phone. All cast summer participants will have a role.
